Meet the looms!
I use four looms to create handwoven modern heirlooms. Two are floor looms with treadles - an 8-shaft, 10-treadle handcrafted jack loom (pictured with citrus circles project) and a 4-shaft, 6-treadle counterbalance Dryad loom (pictured with morning glory plaid project). These are my workhorse looms as treadles allow for faster weaving.
I am the third owner of the 8-shaft loom, which was designed and built by an anonymous maker for his wife. This loom has a maximum weaving width of 24 inches. The Dryad came to me as part of a salvage operation where it and several other looms were rescued from a barn that was about to be demolished. After cleaning, repairs, and a few replacement parts, she has many years of weaving in her still. Bertha, as I've named her, has a maximum weaving width of 30 inches.
I also have two table looms. The 8-shaft table loom is used for sampling and special projects that need more treadles than the floor loom can provide. I recently acquired a 24-shaft Woolhouse Tools Margaret loom which is capable of very intricate woven patterns. Stay tuned for exciting projects from the Margaret in the future!
